Because \u2018Women\u2019s health\u2019<\/b> issues<\/strong> are still too often normalised, dismissed, or shrouded in shame and taboo<\/strong> – especially those that are related to gynaecology – meaning that women often delay seeking help, and education and workplace settings are not always accommodating of women’s health issues.<\/p>\n

Because there is a sex and gender health gap;<\/b> women \/ AFAB people weren\u2019t routinely included in medical trials until the 1990s, meaning many medical pathways have only been tested on men and don\u2019t take into account the variations in female bodies.<\/p>\n

Because \u2018women\u2019s health\u2019 has historically been underfunded and under researched<\/b>, meaning the health issues that either exclusively or predominantly impact us experience a lack of research, data, and appropriate health services and treatments, meaning our health suffers further.<\/p>\n

Because conditions that affect both sexes often have their treatment \u2013 and diagnosis \u2013 based on the male model.<\/b> This means that the different symptoms women may experience are over-looked or dismissed (e.g. heart disease \/ heart attacks \u2013 which kill MORE women than men per year, or autism).<\/p>\n
