{"id":197651,"date":"2021-11-23T15:42:34","date_gmt":"2021-11-23T15:42:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ftww.org.uk\/?p=10988"},"modified":"2024-11-21T21:05:59","modified_gmt":"2024-11-21T21:05:59","slug":"ending-the-postcode-lottery-ftww-joins-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ftww.org.uk\/cy\/2021\/11\/23\/ending-the-postcode-lottery-ftww-joins-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"Ending the Postcode Lottery &#8211; FTWW Joins Campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ftww.org.uk\/2021\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/RCP7581.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-10989\" src=\"https:\/\/ftww.org.uk\/2021\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/RCP7581-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"A blurred blue and white image taken from a hospital corridor, with an unidentifiable person walking in the centre.\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>On 22nd November, we joined more than 20 organisations to launch a new pan-Wales campaign, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcp.ac.uk\/news\/rcp-joins-more-20-organisations-call-independent-nhs-wales-executive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Ending the Postcode Lottery.<\/strong><\/a> The campaign calls for an end to disjointed NHS Wales services and the creation of a single, independent executive to improve care standards.<\/p>\n<p>Like many other organisations across Wales, FTWW believes that a single national body with strategic oversight of NHS Wales is vital to drive improvements in patient care and hold health boards to account.<\/p>\n<p>A single, independent national NHS organisation would be better placed to improve patient care and deliver on the aims of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gov.wales\/sites\/default\/files\/publications\/2021-09\/a-healthier-wales-our-plan-for-health-and-social-care.pdf\"><em><strong>A healthier Wales<\/strong><\/em><\/a><em>,<\/em>\u00a0the Welsh government\u2019s plan for health and social care. An independent body with the right powers would have the authority to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>support system transformation across health board boundaries<\/li>\n<li>play a national leadership role in service improvement<\/li>\n<li>collect and analyse data to improve performance<\/li>\n<li>improve patient outcomes across clinical specialties, public health and inequalities<\/li>\n<li>provide strong governance and accountability to ensure that the NHS in Wales gets the best value from its combined resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>FTWW exists to campaign for equitable access to the services our members need, no matter where in Wales they live: currently, there is huge variation and disparities in care offered, largely as a consequence of the health board area in which they live. This is unfair and unacceptable. The system as it stands is not working for women across Wales &#8211; and we know we&#8217;re not alone.
