Molly F’s story
At age 13 I began period equity campaigning in my school, successfully getting free period products for pupils and raising awareness for the difficulties pupils can face when they are menstruating. I had an awful puberty experience and found that painful and heavy periods put me at a disadvantage in school. At 16 I found out these difficult experiences were caused by a brain tumour, prompting me to start the Love Your Period Campaign to act like the ‘big sister’ I wish I’d had to guide me through these horrible symptoms and advocate for myself when they were negatively affecting my life.
There is so much misinformation online, a massive marketing opportunity being utilized by companies to make profits, and scares around toxic period products…it’s very overwhelming! Love Your Period serves as a platform for young people by young people to share the correct information and be a safe, trusted, and mutual space. Additionally to represent young people in the women’s health movements happening across Wales, to ensure long-lasting change for generations to come.
