PCOS to be renamed Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS)
Affecting millions of women and people registered female at birth, the long overdue change of name from PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) to PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome) is designed to improve diagnosis and care – and, importantly, address the myth that it’s ‘all about ovarian cysts’.
From Mid Wales to Westminster

Making Menstrual Health Matter in Wales – Hustings Recap

New Study to Transform Communication and Decision Making Around HRT in Wales
Cardiff University is launching a new research project on 1 April 2026, funded by Health and Care Research Wales, aimed at improving how women and healthcare professionals communicate and make decisions about the duration of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). The CANDOUR Study — Communication ANd Decisionmaking arOund DURation of Hormone Replacement Therapy — will address significant gaps in evidence, practice and resources relating to when and how women continue or discontinue HRT.

FTWW x Period Dignity
We have been delivering more training on Period Dignity, covering the topics of menstrual health and wellbeing, period poverty, menopause, and the impact on education and employment. We were also delighted to deliver a ‘Lunch and Learn’ session with Welsh Government colleagues across all policy areas to share findings from the recently-concluded ‘SPPINN (Severe Period Pain Is Not Normal) Study.
Women’s Healthy Lives
FTWW Volunteer and Community Coordinator, Louise, was delighted to be joined by our Volunteer Fibroids Champion, Carina, at the Healthy Lives Community Engagement event at Cardiff City Stadium earlier this month, focused on the ‘health, wellbeing, screening, immunisations and support services’ available in local communities.
