Yesterday, on the back of FTWW’s lobbying, and membership of Welsh Government’s endometriosis Task and Finish group, we were invited to the Senedd to talk to the Cross Party Group for Women’s Health about the patient experience in Wales.
Emma Cox, CEO of Endometriosis UK followed, discussing the work they are doing in England, and how it compares to the situation in Wales.
Next up, was Mr Lutfi Shamsuddin, Endometriosis Specialist, UHW Cardiff, he envisaged what an ideal endo service would look like.
Concluding, the WHIP Team: FTWW member and project coordinator, Lowri, and colleague, Carrie (pictured). Two women working behind the scenes to improve women’s health services across Wales. They spoke about what Welsh Government is doing to implement the 2018 recommendations for endometriosis.
Jenny Rathbone AM, Chair of the CPG recognised the complexity of the issues, and seemed particularly keen to offer support in respects to menstrual well-being on the school curriculum, reducing diagnostic delay, and looking at how services are designed.
A productive day, and a good opportunity to enlighten Assembly Members and get them on board! We look forward to seeing how this develops, and will keep you posted.
